I want to share a dream.
I dream of a church where those who feel far from God can have a place to encounter Jesus in real and relevant ways. Before planting SouthPoint I asked "Does St. Mary's County really need another church? Aren't there too many churches already?" Sadly, I discovered that nearly 70% of roughly 100,000 people have dead faith journeys. Many have given up on church and on God. 50% of churches don't lead ONE single person to Christ in a year. Hell is real, and I believe God wants a group of people to rise and call 70% of people disconnected from Him unacceptable!
I dream of a church where life change takes place. Our culture is in desperate need of legitimate hope for people, marriages and families. Jesus is the ONE thing that can transform a human heart and change the course of a life. What if SouthPoint was that place?
I dream of a church that grows. People matter to God and they should matter to HIS church! There are some 56,000 people within a 20 minute drive of SouthPoint that are going NO WHERE to church and are disconnected from God. Things that do NOT grow are DYING, because living things grow! We believe that Jesus is who he says he is, that he is changing lives, and that he expects SouthPoint to grow.
There are some EXCITING things that can move us forward with the dream we believe God has given us. I invite you to that journey. Someday, when you and I are much older, we will be asked by the next generation "What adventure stole our hearts and got the best of us?" May we all answer "Bringing up there, down here", and that you consider supporting Defining Moments as your next step.
